Volvo North America reaches accord with UAW on benefits

Volvo North America won approval of salary and benefits it offered in a new six-year contract with the United Auto Workers union, ending a strike at its tractor truck plant in Dublin, Va., the Roanoke Times reported. The new pact eliminates a tiered wage structure, immediately raises wages for some employees, speeds up progression to top pay for all employees and guarantees no health insurance premium increases over the life of the agreement.
