Louisiana parish mulls paying a portion of retiree health care for police

Acadia Parish officials in Louisiana are considering a plan to pay a portion of parish police officers’ health insurance premiums after retirement up to Medicare age, according to Acadia Parish Today. To be eligible under the proposal, an employee would need a minimum of 20 years of service with the parish and have reached the age of 55. Currently, only five employees meet those criteria.
